Move Out Checklist
Moving out? Make sure you follow all of our steps to ensure you have your deposit returned to you in full:
Make sure all carpets and floors are professionally cleaned and any stains or marks are removed as per your inventory.
If any walls have been painted in a different colour from when you first moved into the property, they must be returned to their original colour unless it has been agreed they can remain by the landlord or the landlords’ agent.
The property must be professionally cleaned; this includes the oven and any white goods that were given with the property at the start of the tenancy.
Any rubbish that is left at the property must be cleared. Bins must be left out for the council to take if your move out day falls before the rubbish is due to be collected.
If applicable, the garden(s) must be maintained and tidied before you vacate the property.
If any damage has occurred to the property or furniture (if applied) to get it fixed/replaced before handing the keys back.
Make sure you request your deposit back through the DPS, you will need your code that was sent to you via email on move in.
To make sure on the last day of occupancy you return all of the keys in your possession to the Absolute Sales and Lettings office in Torquay town centre else rent may still be charged.
Please make sure you have cancelled your standing order.
Should any of these not be followed, it will result in your deposit being held and monies being deducted by the landlord or the landlords’ agent. As stated in your pre tenancy agreement it will be item cost plus 12% or price as quoted by local contractor. You will not have any opportunity to return to the property once your keys are handed back so ensure that the property is as you found it.
If we have been asked to provide a Landlord’s reference to your new Landlord, we reserve the right to amend any reference given should issues arise after the reference has been given.
Should the Landlord decide to withhold your deposit we will not enter into any communications with you about this, it will be dealt through the DPS.
